Description

The DS3820PSCC1D1B is designed as a power supply unit for the Mark IV gas/steam turbine management system.GE’s MKIV is built with integrated microprocessors that monitor temperature, start-up, speed, and shutdown, and protect the system from such things as loss of flame, high pressure, and vibration.

The DS3820PSCC1D1B houses several DS3800 boards within a rectangular housing. This housing has multiple cutouts designed both for access to the components as well as to allow heat to dissipate. The housing is drilled to allow for mounting of these boards. The outside of the housing is marked with the GE symbol which is also marked with the component id number. The housing also holds several additional components that do not belong to any of the printed circuit boards. For example, on the back side of the unit, there are two freestanding terminal strips. Terminal strips are designed to connect more than one circuit together, using the screw-type connections on the strip bar. The housing is built with several flanges along its edges. Many of these flanges have tab cuts or screw hole cuts for mounting options to other modules.

Some PCBs within the DS3820PSCC1D1B are mounted directly to the inside of the frame. This is accomplished by the use of metal screws mounted through factory-drilled holes in the corners of the PCBs.

Components included on the boards used in this module include very large capacitors (reinforced with collar clamps,) smaller polyester vinyl capacitors and capacitors made of other materials, light emitting diodes, potentiometers, integrated circuits, transistors, spare plated through holes, amplifiers, diodes, and resistors. Various boards within the module use CCR, wire wound, and ceramic-covered metal film resistors.

Other components that can be found within this module include heat sinks, transformers, and male and female mating connectors. Most wires in this module have been gathered together with cable ties.
