Description
The DS3820PSCB is produced by GE as a power supply unit for the Mark IV.The MKIV, which is designed for gas/steam turbine management, is built around integrated microprocessors utilizing distributed control functions and can protect the turbine system from things like vibration, high pressure, loss of flame, and fire. The MKIV is also able to automate some procedures like startup and shutdown.
The DS3820PSCB is built using several DS3800 series PCBs working together along with new components, all married together in a metal housing with several cutouts. These openings do two things: they give technicians access to the PCBs within the frame, and they allow for heat dissipation by way of air circulation. The frame is drilled in several locations to allow for the mounting of components, including PCBs. Holes, screw mounts, and slots are cut into the framework to allow for the mounting of the housing itself.
Several components have been built into the top of the frame of the DS3820PSCB. This includes one four-pin connector, one fuse, and one circuit breaker.There is also a marking on the edge of one opening that reads “enable/disable.” This corresponds to an interior toggle switch. The frame has one board (DS3800XTFP) mounted on its exterior. This board has eight female 12-pin connectors and one male 6-pin connector.
The interior PCBs used in the building of the DS3820PSCB have many components. This includes toggle switches, potentiometers, male and female headers, PCB mating connectors, LEDs, jumpers, amplifiers, transformers, integrated circuits, test points, inductors, transistors, quick-connect screw mounts, and several large capacitors. Most boards have resistors, diodes, and capacitors of differing materials. The lowest board in the frame is mounted with its components facing downward.
