Description

The DS3800NSWA1A1B is a PCB designed by GE for the Mark IV (Speedtronic) series. This series was created for the management of steam/gas turbines and is built with triple redundant back-ups on all critical controls/protection parameters to limit downtime caused by electronics failure.

The DS3800NSWA1A1B is made to accept an optional daughter board. This extra auxiliary, DS3800DSWA, communicates with DS3800NSWA1A1B by way of a ribbon cable that connects to a vertical pin (male) connector located toward the center of the primary board. This connector is marked “DA” and labeled 218A4807P4. If installed, the optional auxiliary board gives the DS3800NSWA1A1B access to twelve extra jumper switches and twelve rotary potentiometers. The DS3800NSWA1A1B also has a 218A4653-1 A/mp 102041-1 PCB mating connector populating its left edge. The board surface is marked from ten to eighty by tens directly behind this connector.

The DS3800NSWA1A1B has two ejector clips installed, in the right-hand corners. Made of nylon, these extractors mount to the board and act as either a lever or as a handle so the technician doesn’t have to touch circuitry and components as they are installing or extracting the board. The DS3800NSWA1A1B is marked with the codes 6DA02 and 6BA02. It is factory drilled.

The DS3800NSWA1A1B is built with twelve TP test points and twelve light emitting diodes (red.) All of these components are marked. The board also has six resistor networks. Resistor networks may be used for voltage division.

The DS3800NSWA1A1B has twelve circuits.This includes octal buffers and line drivers with 3-state outputs which give a choice of selected combinations of inverting and noninverting outputs, and quad differential comparators that can operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages.
