Description

The DS3800NSCE is a PCB manufactured by GE for their Mark IV series. This series was introduced by General Electric in 1982 as a replacement for their earlier Speedtronic series (the MKI and MKII) for steam or gas turbine management. The MKIV improved upon these earlier systems by introducing the idea of distributing control over multiple platforms run by microcomputers. These microprocessor-based platforms monitored and protected the turbine system around the clock from issues like vibration, fire, and over-speed. Due to these improvements, the turbine outage rate for the MKIV is significantly lower than that for previous Speedtronic systems.

The DS3800NSCE is a small board built with very few components. It is marked on one edge with the code 6BA01 and its board identification number. On the opposite edge, it is marked “MAC.” The board is drilled near each corner (but not in each corner,) and screws have been inserted.

Two communication components are placed in the interior of the board. This includes one vertical male twenty-pin connector that has been labeled “JA,” and one female twelve-pin connector laid out in a three by four grid that is labeled “JM.” The board is built with one TP test point and one connector point. The connector point is labeled “J1.”

The board has six trim potentiometers. These are placed in a line next to a set of spare PTH, or plated through-holes. The board has three ceramic-covered metal film resistors and six carbon composite resistors. It is important to note the resistors are numbered “R20” through “R28.”

This board will be shipped to you using a static-reducing sleeve. Technical support for the DS3800NSCE was provided by GE.
