Description

GE manufactured the DS3800NSCD as a Speed/Current card for their Mark IV/Speedtronic series.This system was created to manage steam or gas turbines and is built with triple-redundant backups on all protection parameters and critical controls as a way to cut down on downtime created by electronics failure.

The primary feature of the DS3800NSCD is the ten rotary potentiometers located on the right side of the board. Potentiometers work as a rheostat, or as a voltage divider. Each potentiometer is individually labeled. Starting from the top of the board, they are “Spd Fdbk,” “Spd Gain,” “Ref,” “Rev CL,” “Fwd CL,” “Curr Gain,” CL Bias,” “CL Slope,” “Aux 1,” and “Aux 2.” One test point is located above the line of potentiometers. This is marked “TST.”

The DS3800NSCD is marked for alignment and has been factory drilled. It is marked with the code 6BA03. The board has extractor clips inserted in the right corners. Extractors help protect components and circuitry, as they give technicians a handle and/or a lever point to move the board with when handling it.

The DS3800NSCD is built with one PCB mating connector, which is placed along its left edge. This 218A4553-1AMP 102041-1 connector takes up the entire left edge. The board is numbered by tens behind the component.

The DS3800NSCD is built with a limited number of through-hole components. Besides the components already mentioned, the board has two through-hole capacitors (200V polyester vinyl) located at C18 and C19. There are also nineteen resistors mounted to the board using through-hole mounting. Other components attach to the board using the twenty-eight pairs of quick-connect screw mounts. Most of these mounts have letter codes between them as well as having codes for necessary components beside them.

GE provided all technical support for the DS3800NSCD, including data sheets and manuals.

Repair

We offer repair on most GE Turbine boards we sell. Although we usually have replacements available, we recognize that customers may prefer to have their board repaired. Our repair program allows us to offer a lower cost alternative to replacement.
