Description

The DS3800NRRA1 is a PCB manufactured as a regulator monitor board for GE’s Mark IV series. This series is designed for the management of steam/gas turbines and is a microcomputer-based system built on triple-redundant backups. These intentional overlaps on critical controls and protection parameters keep the system running even when one PCB experiences an electronics failure, thus improving efficiency, Efficiency is also improved by the Mark IV by allowing the user to automate certain standard procedures like startup.

The DS3800NRRA1 is designed to communicate with an added, smaller board via sixteen board-to-board pins attached to its surface in the upper right quadrant of the board. The DS3800NRRA1 has seven red LEDs and one amber LED. All are individually labeled. The amber LED is marked ‘imok.’ The board also has ten test points. TP10 is marked “Com.”

The DS3800NRRA1 has four board stiffeners attached to its surface, three across the short dimension of the board and one along its bottom edge. Board stiffeners minimize bending and cracking and decrease vibration and the chance of shock damage.

The board has four transistors, including one Motorola HF/VHF power MOS transistor.This transistor can withstand a full load mismatch, has easy power control, low intermodulation distortion, and good thermal stability. The board also has twenty-three circuits, including hex inverting gates and dual operational gates with short circuit protection.
