Description

The DS3800NRMA is a PCB (printed circuit board) created by GE for the Mark IV gas/steam turbine management system. The MKIV was designed by GE with several interconnected microcomputer-run platforms. These platforms monitor the turbine system around the clock for issues relating to high pressure, vibration, fire, and loss of flame, and makes needed adjustments to protect the turbine and keep it running. The MKIV also automates some procedures, like start-up, control sequencing, and shutdown.

There are twenty-one circuits on the surface of the DS3800NRMA.There are also eighteen transistors, eight light emitting diodes (three red and five amber,) twelve TP test points, several rows of ceramic-covered metal film resistors, and a number of capacitors made of polyester vinyl.

The DS3800NRMA is marked with the code 6BA04 on one edge. It is marked for alignment. The corners have been drilled, and extractor clips are installed in two of these. Extractor clips, which are made of nylon, are used by technicians in two ways: as a handle, so they can avoid touching the circuitry and components on the board, and as a lever point when they need to pull the board from a tight location.

The DS3800NRMA has one Augat plug with a four by six configuration, one right-angled female mating connector, and one right-angled male mating connector with seventeen pins. These pins sit above the level of the board. The surface of the board also has ten board-to-board pins inserted into its surface, and four nylon spacer pins. Finally, the board has been reinforced by two board stiffeners. These bars run along the top and bottom edge of the board.
