The GE Power Excitation Board DS3800NEPB1D1D can only operate when connected to the GE Mark IV PC Board. The board must be connected to a motor excitation board.The armature current isolator and the field current isolator are both circuits on the board. They are the same but the shunt on the armature circuit is designed to be more accurate.

The board is one component that you can install in the power conversion module. Only qualified personnel should work on the board and the module because of the risk to the individuals and the fact that the components are delicate and might be damaged by those who are inexperienced with working with the equipment. Make sure the personnel know about electrical safety and the fact that all equipment must be free of electrical current before touching the components.

Also, the components on the board are delicate and the installer must not let the components touch other boards in the module or hit structures in the module. Before you install the board, attach any cables to the board and make sure the cables are completely attached to the connector. You can verify they are attached by pressing them into the connector. Ribbon cables are especially problematic. That is, the wires are easily broken and can become disconnected from the connector. Always hold the ribbon cable by the connector at the end of the cable and press from the connector when you install it. This is also the case when you remove the cable.
