The DS3800NCIA1B1C is a current isolator board made by General Electric. It was created for the Speedtronic Mark IV series for turbine control. A current isolator is very useful for many reasons. The use of a current isolator eliminates the conducted noise, reduces the chances of ground loop, and physically separates different parts of the system. An isolator is also important for safety. The isolator makes accurate and safe measurements possible, protects operators from equipment that is faulty, and protects equipment and circuits as well as people from electrical shock or short circuit.

The DS3800NCIA1B1C features a connector port situated on the left edge of the circuit card. Seven capacitors which are blue in color are located near the center of the board. Medium-sized and small capacitors which are yellow are also found on the board. Four blue variable resistors, also known as potentiometers, are located on the DS3800NCIA1B1C. These potentiometers have dials which enable a user to adjust the resistance of each variable resistor. Arranged on the left half of the card are two large transformers which are labeled with the part name 218A4583P1 2. Placed in various areas of the DS3800NCIA1B1C are six transistors. Also featured on the board are eleven integrated circuits. Every one of the integrated circuits contains a variety of tiny components like resistors, capacitors, and diodes. Many resistors which are banded in different colors are located all around the circuit card. The bands’ various colors on each resistor symbolize how much resistance each resistor is capable of. Also on the DS3800NCIA1B1C are many diodes which are grey and black.
