Description

General Electric created the DS3800NADB1D1D to function as a 12-bit analog/digital converter card within their Speedtronic Mark IV system. The Mark IV is a gas and steam turbine control system with integrated chipsets and two-out-of-three voting redundancies on all protection parameters and critical controls.

The DS3800NADB1D1D works as a motherboard for the auxiliary board DS3800NADB1D1D. The auxiliary board significantly increases the capacitance of DS3800NADB1D1D due to its eight 708A1 200V M/E capacitors.

The DS3800NADB1D1D has the following specs:

• -spare plated through-holes near the right edge

• -one LED (amber.) This is marked 'p ok.'

• -three test points (TPs) Each is individually marked.

• -three connectors to communicate with other PCB modules. A ribbon cable connects the DS3800NADB1D1D to its daughter board. One male connector populates one short edge, and a female connector populates the other.

• -two potentiometers.

• -extractor tabs installed in both the top and bottom right corners

• -alignment-marked

• -jumper switches for customization. 'Range' can be changed with J1, 'parity' with J2. J3 is marked 'OSC.'

• -multiple integrated circuits, including the ADC85H-12 12-bit A/D converter with reference and clock. The design of this chip includes scaling resistors that provide analog input signal ranges of +/-2.5, +/-5, +/-10, 0 to +5, or 0 to +10 volts. All digital signals are DTL and TTL compatible, and the data output is negative-true and available in either serial or parallel form.
