General Electric designed the DS3800NADA1F1G to function as an analog-to-digital converter card within their Mark IV Speedtronic series.The Mark IV, a gas and steam turbine control system, was one of the first control systems to use integrated chipsets with two-out-of-three voting redundancy on protection parameters and critical controls. This intentional redundancy allows the Speedtronic system to stay up and running even if one board has an electronics issue, as its responsibilities are shunted to other boards that have been designed as a backup.
