Description
The GE Digital to Analog Output Board DS3800HCVA1J1H features a modular connector for attachment to a drive and retention levers to hold the board in the drive. The GE Digital to Analog Output Board DS3800HCVA1J1H also is populated with 14 jumpers, and 2 amber indicator LEDs. The board also has 3 connectors accessible from the front of the board, and 4 trimmer resistors.
The trimmer resistors can be useful to a servicer or a qualified technician for adjusting the board processing. The trimmer resistors are adjusted by turning a screw that is visible on the component. The screw changes the resistance of the trimmer resistor. The technician must have a full function testing device available when adjusting the trimmer resistor. The trimmer resistor is a potentiometer due to the fact that it can be adjusted. The technician must have a complete understanding of the board circuitry and of the other components in the drive. While observing the tester, the technician can turn the screw until the desired results are obtained.
When finished, it is good practice to cover the screw with a drop or 2 of a liquid that hardens and keeps the screw from being turned accidentally. The liquid can be easily peeled off the component, in case further adjustment is necessary. This might be the case if the board is moved to another drive.
The drive operator can monitor the operation of the board by observing the status of the indicator LEDs. When the LEDs are flashing, it indicates that processing activity is taking place on the board.
