If an inverter is used to convert ac power to dc, the device can be disabled by removing the fuses to shut off the power to the drive. If ac power is supplied to the drive, the servicer can pull a circuit breaker to remove power.

Before starting the installation, the servicer must locate all emergency power shut off devices and ensure they are in good working order. It is best practice to never service a drive alone. It is always best to have two servicers perform any work. If an emergency occurs, one servicer can call for help, pull the emergency shut off device, or in other ways assist the servicer.
