During normal processing that occurs when the drive is in operation, the capacitors store current and when commanded, release the high voltage to cause a particular result. During normal operation the capacitors store and release current without any safety concerns. However, during the procedure to replace the drive, the power is removed so that the technician can touch the board without a concern for the presence of electrical current. You must be aware that the capacitors might still retain dangerous current. The capacitors lose the stored current after only 30 seconds once power is removed.
