Description
The DS3820PSFF1 is a Mark IV AC Input Module from GE. The MKIV replaced the MKI and MKII in 1982 as GE’s primary Speedtronic system for steam and gas turbine management. It is built on microprocessor-run platforms that monitor the turbine around the clock for problems like loss of flame, high pressure, and vibration. It automates processes like control sequencing, start-up, and shutdown.
The DS3820PSFF1 has a metal housing composed of several plates connected with screws. The housing is open in several places, including on the bottom, the top, and on two sides. This allows heat to dissipate naturally, and also allows access to components within the housing. The frame is drilled in multiple locations to allow for the mounting of components. It also has several screw holes and tabs cut in flanges to allow the housing to be connected to other modules. Three components have been connected directly to the top of the housing; this includes a fuse, a circuit breaker, and a four-pin female jack.
The DS3820PSFF1 is built with the majority of DS3800 boards mounted inside its housing. However, the DS3800XTFP board has been mounted on the exterior of the housing.This board has one six-pin header and eight twelve-pin (four by three) female connectors.
The DS3820PSFF1 has multiple boards within its exterior. These boards are mounted both horizontally and vertically. Components on these boards include transformers, potentiometers, heat sinks, high current inductors, toggle switches, test points, PCB connectors and headers (both male and female,) jumper switches, integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, LEDs, and capacitors and resistors of various materials. Capacitors include very large through-hole electrolytic capacitors. Most wires in the DS3820PSFF1 are gathered together with cable ties.
