Description

The DS3820PS5D1A is a power supply for the Mark IV system; this is a modification built upon several DS3800/DS3810 PCBs. The DS3820PS5D1A fits into the Mark IV series built for gas/steam turbine management. The MKIV is built on a group of integrated microprocessors that monitor the turbine system around the clock for issues like vibration, fire, loss of flame, and high pressure.

The DS3820PS5D1A occupies a large metal housing with a secondary housing connected to its side. The primary housing is built with many cutouts on its top to improve ventilation and minimize heat build-up inside the unit. The end panel of the primary housing connects via several screw mounts. This allows technicians easy access to the PCBs within the housing. Many wires are attached to this end of the unit, primarily using header connectors. However, at least three cables use round screw-connect cable connectors. Several cables have been tied together using several nylon cable ties.

The secondary housing is located on one side of the primary housing. It is spaced slightly off the primary housing to allow for air circulation and heat dissipation. This secondary housing houses one PCB. This exterior board is protected from above by a plexiglass shield and on its edge by the bottom of the secondary housing. This edge of the secondary housing has two screw mounts drilled through it. The exterior board is populated with several round cable connectors, six Augat connectors, two vertical male PCB connectors, and one right-angled connector. It also has one amber LED and several TP test points, as well as several other components.
