Description

The DS3815SSSA is a PCB made by GE for the Mark IV system. The MKIV introduced the idea of distributing turbine control functions across multiple platforms which run at the same time to monitor the turbine system by using a two-out-of-three voting system to make important decisions. All critical outputs will be issued only when two or all three of the computers indicate that status. By using this setup, the Mark IV has improved is reliability and decreased its turbine outage rate when compared to earlier Speedtronic systems.

The DS3815SSSA has twenty-four circuits. Included among these are octal d-type transparent latches and edge-triggered flip-flops with tri-state bus-driving outputs and buffered control inputs, octal buffers/line receivers/line drivers with a typical enable/disable time of 18 ns, crystal oscillating chips, and 8-bit high-speed CMOS static RAM that are pin-out compatible with standard 16k EPROM/MASK ROM.

The DS3815SSSA has 10 resistor network arrays and seventeen jumpers located on the board.J0 gives the user the choice of RUN or TEST. The other sixteen jumpers toggle between “T” and “F.” The board is populated with three different mating connectors for communicating with other PCBs. This includes a 34-pin vertical male connector, a 218A4637P2 connector, and a 218A4553-1 Amp 102041-1 connector.

The DS3815SSSA is built with four LEDs. This includes three red and one amber light emitting diode.There are three test points (TPs) on the board, and one set of spare plated through holes (PTH.) Resistors on the board may be carbon composite or ceramic-covered metal film. Capacitors tend to be fixed vacuum, but there are several of other material on the board.
