Description
The DS3815PAAA is a PCB created by GE for their Mark IV series. The Mark IV is designed to manage gas and steam turbine systems, using a triple-redundant configuration to carry out diagnostics. If one section fails the turbine continues to run under the control of the other two sections until the failed section can be repaired and put back into service. This two-out-of-three voting system has substantially decreased the turbine outage rate in the MKIV compared to earlier Speedtronic systems.
The DS3815PAAA is built to accept an (optional) auxiliary board. This board communicates to the DS3815PAAA by way of a male vertical pin mating connector placed near the center of the board. Two other PCB mating connectors are located on the board: a 218A4637P1 right-angled connector, and a 218A4553-1 AMP 533002-1 connector.
The DS3815PAAA has three LEDs (light emitting diodes.) The board has two red and one amber LEDs. Next to these are seven TP test points. Each test point is labeled; starting with TP1 the labels are DATA, SYNC, DSYNC, COM, RST, COM, and TEST.
The DS3815PAAA is built with fourteen jumper switches and twenty-five circuits. Some jumper switches allow the operator to choose between IN or OUT, and others between 0 and 1. Circuits include octal buffers with inputs tolerant down to 2V, hex inverters, Hex/quad flip-flops that utilize TTL circuitry to implement D-type flip-flops logic, and 2048-bit HMOS RAM with completely static operation. One circuit has been updated with the code 68A9172P0191.
