Description
The DS3800NTCF1C1C is a PCB from GE manufactured for the Mark IV system. This is their gas/steam turbine control system. The Mark IV was developed with triple redundancies on all important controls and protection parameters, which allows the MKIV to shift control as needed to these backups to keep the system running.
The DS3800NTCF1C1C functions as a thermocouple condition card within the system.Turbine systems are designed to accept many of these cards, as temperature control and regulation is necessary. Thermocouple cards measure temperature within an appliance (the turbine) for use in control and safety shutdown. Multiple cards return information and a median reading is used for control.
Two PCB connectors are placed on the DS3800NTCF1C1C. This includes one 218A4637-P4 connector and one 218A4553-1 AMP 553002-1 8931 connector. The former is on the right edge and the latter on the left edge. Both are right-angled connectors.
The DS3800NTCF1C1C is built with five jumper switches, seven (TP) test points, four potentiometers, and one resistor network. Both resistor networks and potentiometers may be used for voltage division.
The DS3800NTCF1C1C has a nylon extractor clip installed in each right corner. Extractors aid in the installation and the extraction of PCBs, especially from tight locations, as they give technicians a handle to hold the board by--which saves components and wiring--and also gives them a lever point to pull the board out if they are tightly seated into place.
The DS3800NTCF1C1C is built primarily with ceramic covered metal film resistors, but the board also has carbon composite resistors (CCR) in place. Capacitors may be polyester film, ceramic, or other material. The board has a line of thirty-two 708D1 .0022 200V polyester film capacitors. It also has two lines of 47K +10VDC capacitors, thirty-two in all.
The DS3800NTCF1C1C is built with eight circuits. This includes octal buffers and line drivers and hex inverting gates.
