Description

The DS3800NTBE1 is a PCB manufactured by General Electric for the Mark IV system. This series was created for steam or gas turbine control management. It is built with integrated chipsets built with overlapping responsibilities that can automatically take on the workload of a damaged circuit board. In this way, the Mark IV curbs the amount of downtime it experiences due to electrical failure.

The DS3800NTBE1 works as a thermocouple card.The Mark IV is designed with multiple thermocouple cards which each report back their calculated values. The exhaust system, for example, runs under the assessment of thirteen thermocouple cards sending information back to three sections. Each section can make its own independent assessment of how to limit fuel for the turbine. It is important, however, that each of these cards is in good working order, as individual deviations of information from one card may cause a resulting bias of a few degrees that can lead to a statistical loss of input and potentially serious engine problems.

The DS3800NTBE1 is marked for alignment (A through K) and marked with the code 6BA01. It has two mating connectors on its top edge, which are marked JA and JB. These are 28-pin vertical (male) connectors.

The DS3800NTBE1 does not have any resistors or diodes on the board. It is built with forty-eight capacitors, which are primarily located toward the top of the board. The DS3800NTBE1 has been factory drilled along its edge as well as through the center of the board, but never through the waffle pattern imprinted into the top layer of the PCB.

The DS3800NTBE1 is built with four thermocouple components. These are labeled “TBA,” “TBB,” “TBC,” and “TBD.” All components are placed parallel to each other.
