Description
The DS3800HOSA is part of the Mark IV Speedtronic series created by General Electric. The DS3800HOSA is used to control steam and gas turbines. The gas and steam turbines are a fast way to provide energy and flexible fuel. A gas turbine builds pressure by using a combination of air and fuel in an internal combustion engine to create a mixture of gases to turn the turbine blades. A steam turbine uses a large boiler which is filled with water. The boiler is then heated to create large amounts of steam which then turns the turbine's blades. The energy produced by the spinning turbine blades is then harnessed for other purposes. The DS3800HOSA has five yellow capacitors, which hold electrical energy in an electrical field it creates. The DS3800HOSA has a large number of diodes and resistors. A diode only allows energy to flow in one direction through it. A resistor is used to restrict the amount of energy that is passed through the circuit board at one time. The DS3800HOSA has one large black box on one end of the circuit board. On the side opposite the black box, there are two small blue male terminal ports with two black clips on each port. The DS3800HOSA has twenty-five integrated circuits. Integrated circuits are used to store data and programming for the DS3800HOSA. Integrated circuits are split into two groups. The two groups are EEPROM and EPROM. An EEPROM holds the programming and data and cannot be altered. An EPROM holds the programming and data but can be re-programmed as updates become available.
