The GE Mark IV Board DS3800HCIC1E1E is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Mark IV Board DS3800HCIC1E1E also is populated with 1 40-pin connector located between the retention levers and 1 34-pin connector on the surface of the board. The board is populated with 1 amber indicator LED and standoffs. The board is also populated with 1 socket for an electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) module and 7 jumpers.

The standoffs on the GE Mark IV Board DS3800HCIC1E1E provide a means to attach a daughter card. The daughter card attaches to the board and receives all power and control signals from the board. It also sends control signals to the board. The daughter card does not process information independently but works with the board. It provides added processing capability and additional functions. The current and control signals are carried by the 34-pin ribbon cable. 1 end of the ribbon cable is permanently attached to the daughter card. The other end terminates in a 34-pin connector. The connector is plugged into the 34-pin connector that populates the board.

When the daughter card is installed, the technician can still access the jumpers and the EEPROM modules. That is, the technician can replace the modules without the need to first remove the daughter card. You will observe that a notch is located on the short end of the module socket. Insert a screwdriver into the notch and lift up to pry the module out of the socket.
