Description
The GE MD Exciter Control Board DS3800DMEC1 features 7 terminals for attaching additional components to the board, and 2 indicator LEDs. The GE MD Exciter Control Board DS3800DMEC1 also is populated with 14 trimmer resistors, 20 jumpers, 1 20-pin ribbon cable, and 1 34-pin ribbon cable.
The reset button is a valuable tool to use if the board appears to experience intermittent problems or has suddenly developed processing errors. Once the reset button is pressed, the board restarts without having to lose power and perform a cold start. If some signals have become garbled or interfered with, the restart will enable the signals to clear. Because the board must be installed in the drive and the board will be exposed to full power, only a qualified individual should press the restart button. This is because of the risk of electric shock if you touch a component while power is applied to the drive. Another risk is electric burn or other serious injury.
If the reset button doesn’t resolve the issue, another method of pinpointing the problem is to test the board using the test points. The test points are used when the board is removed from the drive and all power is removed. A qualified person will have on hand a testing device that is configured for performing the type of testing you want to perform.
Another source of information when you troubleshoot the board is to view the 2 LEDs on the board. The red LEDs are lit when activity is occurring on the board.

We offer repair on most GE Turbine boards we sell. Although we usually have replacements available, we recognize that customers may prefer to have their board repaired. Our repair program allows us to offer a lower cost alternative to replacement.
